A skene is a structure that faces the audience and gives background during the performance for the actors and actresses to perform in front of. It was frequently the background of the play and it gave a perspective to the audience of where the show is being performed and the setting of the show. It was changed a lot during the play because it was such a lightweight structure and easy to maneuver. It was used in every performance and it made a big impact on the way the audience say these performances. Modern skenes are more advanced and creative than they were in the ancient Greek times.
