My take on this is something that we have fretted about for a while--number sense. Our students can get their math tables for the various operations, but they have great difficulty in figuring out how to use them. You know, the old word problem deal that gave us such difficulty. But worse yet is when they come up with an answer that makes no sense with the numbers we are using. I suggest hooking the students on playing Cribbage!
