My personal experience is often persons do not take me seriously in an administrative capacity.

Often I attribute it to skin color and sex.

When I was young I had a severe stuttering issue. I had difficulty explaining things or participating in classes. sometimes I was made fun of.

At this age sometimes it tends to regress and it can become triggering and embarrassing.

You don't know where someone is coming from until you take the time to get to know them. Everyone thinks I'm this "by-the-book" type. I can't stand rules. It just so happens to be the job I was assigned, so I try to do it to the best of my ability.

There were times that students saw me as a white woman that didn’t understand their struggles, but in reality we were more alike than different. After sharing some of the experiences I’ve had as a young adult it had helped me to build stronger bonds with my students.

My experience is the way I dress people think. I’m not capable to do the job and once I’m in the position to do the job, they have a better understanding and out look on me.

Often times I am the youngest compared to everyone else. I feel as though because everyone felt I was younger, I was not capable of articulating myself or having knowledge in certain areas in the manner in which they can. But in fact I am more than capable of doing so.
