I believe documentation is very important because you first and foremost are able to see the different stages of learning. When using photographs others who may not have been present are able to physically see the students in the learning environment. We always want this to be used as a tool for others to learn as well. You can use them for parent conferences to show parents their students progress of learning and it gives them the ability to see their child in their learning element that they may not see on the daily.

Documentation is crucial for early childhood education because by creating and displaying evidence of the children's learning experiences, the children can re-visit their experience and work which allows their understanding to create more in-depth thinking, questioning, and dialogue in the future which will benefit the child's education

In my opinion I believe documentation is important because it allows parents, teachers, and anyone else who comes and views the children's work to see the progress they made and that there is evidence that the children or child has put in that hard work. Also because for those who were unable to be present at the time will also be able to see the engagement and the amount of learning and work a child has put in throughout the week or year.

Documentation is important for several reasons. As educators, we must use correct documentation for our students, their work, and their progress. Using documentation can tell a story, event, or development process while connecting stories and gathering information. Documentation can reach audiences in different ways and promote connection to the student and their work. Proper documentation can be used as a resource for the student in later life to see their growth (also used in portfolios for art students). When we document work, we allow students to be proud of their accomplishments and take pride in their work. These are all ways to help foster documentation being fun, engaging, and meaningful!

I believe that documentation is important because so much of ECE work is thought to be simple/easy when in reality it is thought-out, planned, and often research-backed work. By documenting a child's work, teacher's can give parents and administration a look into their classroom experience, and how it affects the child. Documentation provides proof of learning and growth (or the lack of it, which is also beneficial information to have). Intentional, pedagogic documentation also can give a narrative of the activity that the teacher chooses to focus on. This type of documentation can let parent's feel included and knowledgeable about a classroom activity and its effects.

Documentation is important due to supplying others with information about a specific child's development of learning. You can create multiple documentations but my favorite mentioned in "The Power of Documentation" article is photo documentation and portfolios. The details included connect families, administration, and reaches the curriculum. Educators are not limited to exploring and creating specific documents. For example, a field trip to the Botanical Garden meets the curriculum of flowers and their parts. As an educator you can create a bulletin board with photos and information that highlight learning and that class's experience.

Documentation is so important because it makes learning visible to students, teachers, and parents. After reading the documents and watching the videos, I realized that documentation is something that should be valued in the classroom. Children are able to learn so much from this because it is shared back with them. Parents and teachers are able to see progress, extend growth, and make meaningful connections throughout the school year. Teachers can document by using things such as photos, drawing, samples, and narrative writing. In my opinion, documentation leads to success in and outside of the classroom because it is something that students will carry with them daily. I also think parents will appreciate and really value this because their child is continuously learning.

In teaching, we will have to do A LOT of documentation, which is essential since, in the young child's early development, a teacher would need to document everything that a student comes in contact with inside the classroom. When documentation is necessary for and outside of the school, when it comes to having documentation, it will be helpful to have some documents that could back up what you are trying to document, whether it is about a student, their progress, if they have an IEP or not, or they are creating a system of documentation to help keep track of supporting documentation that can be fall backed to when it is most needed. Documentation is beneficial because you can personally see growth in what you are doing in your specific documentation. The best aspect of documentation is to keep track of those students needing a boost of confidence and help within the classroom. This past spring, I got to observe at a school before ACAP testing started, which meant a lot of documentation had to be done to see what progress each student had made regarding the fall and what would happen during the spring semester of ACAP. The teacher had so many stacks of papers on her students and then saw how documentation is vital, especially during testing times of the school year. Plus, this amount of documentation will follow the students when they move up to their new grade levels every school year so that their new teacher will have a certain amount of documentation to look at and see what level of learning they can comprehend and know where the teacher needs to go from here to help each student out. In conclusion, documentation will always need to be an essential part of the teacher's daily routine to help everyone out, even the students, in the long run when it comes to helping better and shape their learning environments.

I believe documentation is very important especially in early childhood education because the kids are constantly crossing milestones as they develop, and it is important to keep track of that. I think it is important as a future educator to learn the steps of good documentation and the readings and videos provided great information on this.

Jasmine Elliott

Documentation is important because it gives everyone a look inside of your classroom. People will see the work and time/ hours you put into your students. you could use the documentation for yourself to observe and analyze things you want to change and want to be different. using documentation can show the journey and projects that your students have made. It is here to be the shining light at the end of the tunnel. It is important to remember all those times you were working hard and what you were doing to see where you have gotten to be at today. Documentation can definitely do more harm than good, and it is important for people to realize that. It can show others how hard working your students are forming a connection with the outside world other than the inside. Documentation is something that is starting to evolve with ECE and EEC. I see this happening with teachers forming social media pages for the parents to be aloud to form that connection with their student even while being in school and seeing their accomplishments. Hopefully documentation is something many educators decide to do.

I think documentation is essential because it provides in dept information from a teacher standpoint or any individual that is doing an analysis. Doing so will give the observer clarity on levels of progression and what is needed to support that child. Also, gives a lens to parents seeing growth or not and a great way for parents to development parent- teacher relationship. Christie Turner
