The sectors that make up the creative industries

Film, TV, video, radio and photography

Design: Product, graphic and fashion design

Television is part of the sector and had experienced many changes over the years. When television first came along you could only get limited channels on Freeview. Now so many companies have came along such as Sky, BT, and Virgin. The television industry involves creating and distributing different TV programmes. In the film sector of the creative media many companies like Walt. Disney, DreamWorks, and Miramax are involved.
Print media has been around loner than electronic media. It contains materials that are portable and are available in printed and technical form, the main forms of published media productions are books, newspapers, newsletters, posters, brochures etc. during there 20th century it became very popular all over the world. Many companies like The Sun, Daily Mail, The Mirror, and many more are all part of the industry and will be around for a very long time.

“The creative industries are one of the UK’s greatest success stories, with British musicians, artists, fashion brands and films immediately recognisable in nations across the globe. Growing at almost twice the rate of the wider economy and worth a staggering £84 billion a year, our Creative Industries are well and truly thriving and we are determined to ensure its continued growth and success.” https://www.gov.uk/government/news/creative-industries-worth-almost-10-million-an-hour-to-economy

On the second chat you can see the different percentages and how much they have risen between 2008-2014 between all of the different sectors of the industry. Every sector had risen over the years all by various amounts, in the sector for music, visual arts & performance they have one of the highest rising rates at 90.02% which may include industries such as theatre, Sony music, warner music, and independent labels. Whereas things such as Publishing which is a low rise of 58.13%. As the years go on technology is growing which is good for electrical companies whereas for the publishing companies that publish newspapers, books, and magazines tend to have lower incomes as they're not 'keeping up with the times' (although you can access many things like this online)

Public broadcasting uses television, the internet (mobiles), radio and many more. They use any electronic media outlets who focus on public service. Funding for this comes from the general pubic who pay taxes and it comes through the government.
An example pf Public Service Media is the BBC. The BBC was established October 18th 1922. The BBC doesn't show adverts while its on air so wouldn't charge for advertising time which means the public then have to pay a TV licence fee.
One of the biggest shows for the BBC is Strictly Come Dancing (average 8.1 million views). This show also makes the BBC a lot of money because when you have to vote for contestants there's a small charge you have to pay.

The BBC doesn't show adverts to the public and doesn't sell advert time to anyone so they don't mate their money through other companies and make it through their shows and people who pay TV taxes (about £150 per year) and millions of people pay it so they're earning about £3,888,392,497.50 from it.
On the other hand ITV charge for adverts so they're earning money from them instead of the public. The companies then pay ITV to show their adverts after shows that have the same target audience as their product. This can make the advertisement spot very expansive. Some companies also pay to have their products places in a scene of a show so people will see it during the show rather than in an advert (that they may not watch) The first product placement on ITV was Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine placed in the kitchen area of the set. This costed £100,000 for a one year contract.

There are many companies the BBC have as competitors the main one being Netflix. The main reason for this is because of the price and content of each company. People pay around £150 each year to have a TV license (you can also access BBC IPlayer) whereas Netflix is only £72 a month and you get a lot more content and can also view adult programmes whenever you like instead of waiting until 9pm to see them. Although on Netflix people can access BBC Earth channels such as Blue Planet, Frozen Planet, and Planet Earth.
