The Cuban government represses and punishes dissent and public criticism. They continue to use repressive tactics such as beatings, public shaming, and termination of employment. However, things have seemed to be getting better over the years.

While we will not break diplomatic relations with Cuba, we have rolled back our ties a bit and reinstated some restrictions on travel and trade.
