To answer to the key question (clumsy...methodology of introduction to master)we are helped by two documents,an extract, named "Travel is fatal to prejudice",from a book entitled "Innocents Abroad" written by Mark Twain in 1869 and a painting probably inspired by the previous novel. This artwork is perhaps a support for the ideas spread by the novel.

In this extract, Twain is talking about <del>the travelling's benefits </del>the benefits of travelling by telling his trips but also the rare drawbacks (details ?). Even if the author and narrator <del>do the travels's promotion</del> promote travelling , he <del>makes </del>explains the readers that during a trip, a nice person can become the opposite. But in the rest of the text, Twain encourages people to broaden their knowledge by seeing other cultures and new paramount places, making new memories and making new acquaintances. The title, "Innocents Abroad", insists on the people's naivety and their "narrow-mindeness" caused by their lack of curiosity. (very good remark which could have been your starting oint !)The writer shows to these "innocents" that they have to discover the world by themselves and not stay at home, in ignorance.

To conclude,we saw that travelling abroad is not a recent tradition. Indeed, going abroad was a <del>spreading </del>well-spread practice in the 19th with authors like Mark Twain who encouraged people with magnificent places described in his tales
