One with a dark background and little detail, and one with bright, light backgound and great detail. The two different drawings of the Cathedral are meant to represent two differnet worlds, and  true sight. The ability to see beyond the surface and understand in more depth, the true meaning that lies within. Bub has a lack of insight and self-awareness which in some ways that makes him blinder than Robert, even though. The quote that inspired my dark, not detailed, cathedral was “I found myself thinking what a pitiful life this woman must have lead. Imagine a woman who could never see herself as she was seen in the eyes of her loved one”. This quote takes place in early on in the story, showing us what Bub’s morals, or ideas are about what matters in a relationship. He portrays Beulah and Roberts relationship as “pitiful” because Robert never knew what Beulah phsically looked like. The quote that inspired the second, more detailed, bright cathedral was “I stared hard at the shot of the cathedral on the TV. How could I even beg able to describe it?” These thoughts run through Bubs head towards the end of the story, he cant describe what he sees because he doesn’t understand it. After this we see Bub and Robert draw the cathedral, after drawing the cathedral with his eyes closed, Bub is able to fathom the difference between just seeing and seeing and understanding.
