"The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh is a breathtakingly beautiful painting that depicts the night sky with swirling stars, a bright crescent moon, and a small village with a church in the foreground. The sky is painted with vivid blues and yellows, giving the impression of a swirling, tumultuous sea. The stars and moon are depicted as if they are alive, each with its own personality and movement. In the foreground, the village is painted in muted tones of green, brown, and yellow. The church stands out with its white steeple, and it appears to be the only building with any light coming from it. The brushstrokes are thick and heavy, giving the painting a sense of movement and energy. The overall effect of "The Starry Night" is one of mystery, wonder, and awe. The viewer is drawn into the painting by the swirling sky and the vibrant stars, and the small village adds a sense of comfort and familiarity to the scene. Van Gogh's use of color and brushstrokes creates a masterpiece that captures the essence of the beauty and mystery of the night sky.
Diana Slaboda MFL-41
"Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh is a masterpiece of post-impressionist art. It is an oil-on-canvas landscape painting. The painting depicts a night sky filled with swirling clouds and bright stars, with a small village nestled in the foreground. The brushstrokes are thick and expressive, giving the painting a sense of movement and energy. The colors are bold and vibrant, with blues and yellows dominating the canvas. It makes the dark tone. The mood we can describe as depressed, gloomy, miserable, sad.The moon and stars shine brightly, casting a warm glow over the landscape. The painting is a stunning example of van Gogh's unique style and his ability to capture the beauty of nature in a way that is both emotional and powerful.
Anastasia Velenko MFL-41

This work is written using dark color. However, in this work there is a bright, flashy color. This mural is painted in the technique of screen printing. Thanks to this technique, the lines are drawn indistinctly. They break off. This work is thought-provoking thanks to the presence of a flashy color that catches the eye and is located in the very center.
This is a piece of street art which appeared in Droitwich and was thought could be a Banksy's work. He is anonymous English underground street art artist.
Anna Cherkas MFL-42

Basically,it's a picture of an anonymous English undergroud street artist and we know nothing about it's background or author. I think the idea of this picture is that the more you consump the less you use your own brain to think and analyse. The painting is completed in black and red colours. Red colour is kinda provoing n cathes your eye. It's used to make you notice the picture, stop n think a bit about the idea of this picture. The paintin' itsef is completed in kinda typical style for street art(the technique of screen painting).
Daniil Koleda MFL-42

The last moments of a beautiful girl's life were depicted by John Everett Millet in the painting "The Death of Ophelia".
Gloomy background tones set up a mournful mood. Willow, which rises above Ophelia, symbolizes rejected love, nettles and daisies denote pain and innocence, respectively.

The beautiful Ophelia spread her arms, a magnificent dress holds her while on the water, she casts a farewell glance at the clear sky. Millet seemed to stop this difficult moment for us, but at the same time he reliably showed through the symbol plants that a sad end is inevitable.
Angelina Dubik MFL-42

This painting "Ophelia" is depicted a few minutes before the death of the heroine of the painting. The canvas depicts a girl who quite realistically pretends to be dead. Her thoughts are incomprehensible to me. On the canvas, the artist used Light bright and dark colors in order to show the whole tragedy of the painting, all this harmonious unity. My first impression was cold and opressing. We can see both life and death here at the same time, namely a senescent girl.
Anastasia Savitskaya MFL-42

The picture is fascinating: the brightness of plants in all their variety of shades contrasts with the clear waters of the river and the heavy fabric of Ophelia's iridescent dress. One of the most thorough and detailed descriptions of English nature. After all, water flows, distorting colors and shapes, giving them shine.
Ilona Baranovskaya MFL-42

American Gothic by Grant Wood is a painting of a farmer and his daughter in front of their house, with natural and clear colors that create an earthy and calming feel. The serious and somber tone reflects the hard work of American farmers. The composition is symmetrical and formal, with negative space creating a free and flowing quality. The monochromatic texture is flat and polished, with muted and subdued tones that are uniform and unvarying.

This artwork mirrors the hardship of the 1930s in a way that truly speaks to me. The expressions on the faces, so thoughtfully rendered by the artist, capture the solemnity of the era with an emotive power that resonates deeply. It is a poignant reminder of the struggles that so many Americans faced during that time.
Архипова Ксения, СИЯ-41

The White Horse by John Constable is a masterpiece that evokes a range of my emotions. This painting captures the beauty and majesty of the English countryside. The image of the majestic white horse standing in the foreground of a vast, green landscape is both calming and awe-inspiring.

One cannot help but feel a sense of peace and serenity when gazing upon this painting. The soft, muted colors used by Constable create a peaceful atmosphere that is truly mesmerizing. The white horse itself is a sight to behold. Its strong, muscular form is both elegant and powerful.

But there is more to this painting than just its beauty. The White Horse also speaks to the human spirit. It reminds us of the importance of connecting with nature and the world around us. It encourages us to slow down and take in the beauty that surrounds us.

In short, The White Horse is a painting that speaks to my soul. It is a reminder of the beauty and wonder that exist in the world, and it encourages us to appreciate and cherish it.
Mark Yakubovich, MFL-41

The scene is painted approximately with brushstrokes visible throughout, so some details are delicate to make out. For the face of the swash, russet- brown and sword-argentine makeup skims smoothly across the oil and leaves some uncolored areas visible, creating the effect of light shimmering on the still water. On our left wing, a shallow rustic barge is propelled along the sluice by two men in red caps with long poles. The boat carries a white steed wearing blinders and a harness.
Veronika Verbitskaya, MFL-41

Vincent Van Gogh's "The Starry Night" considered to be one of my favorite paintings. Van Gogh has proven, through out time, to be an outstanding demonstration of how emotions can be conveyed through color and brushstroke. It was one of the last major paintings he ever produced and one of the earliest examples of expressionism. This "night" exhibits a variety of moods, objects, and atmosphere. With the use of color, texture, and descriptive objects, Van Gogh develops a marvelous painting that will always be remembered for its beauty and mystery.

The painting is based on a plot from Shakespeare's play Hamlet.Millais took much from inspiration from Shakespeare’s description. Additionally, Millais wanted to recreate the atmosphere with accuracy and dedication to nature. Millais rendered the vegetation with extreme attention to detail. The plants and flowers can be identified because of their botanical accuracy. Ophelia’s garland of flowers, which she was creating prior to falling into the water, is present in Millais’s painting.
Polina Novikova MFL 42

The scene is set in the countryside, with trees, hills, and a cloudy sky in the background. The horse stands out as the focal point of the painting, with its powerful, muscular form and bright, white coat contrasting against the natural surroundings. The man's red jacket also adds a splash of color to the otherwise subdued palette. The painting is notable for its realistic portrayal of the landscape and the details of the horse's anatomy, which show Constable's skill as an artist. Overall, "The White Horse" is a beautiful example of English landscape painting from the early 19th century.
Liza Motorova MFL-42

They immediately attract the viewer's attention because of the special technique of execution. The light coming from the moon and stars creates the appearance of a spiral. Due to the peculiarity of the strokes, it seems that the heavenly bodies are moving in the sky. On the right side, the artist depicted the village.

I am not very fond of arts but there are some masterpieces that I admire and that I would like to see with my own eyes. One of them is Van Gogh’s “Starry night”. Van Gogh recreated this alluring, fascinating world of stars more than once in his paintings. In order for us to see the starry sky the same way van Gogh imagined it at the time of painting, he used blue from light sky to dark blue, and the stars illuminate everything around because the artist uses colors from white to yellow and gold. The stars are very large, they were formed as if from spirals. In the center of the night sky we see two swirling whirlwinds that are ready to whirl, to carry away into this distant space the one who looks at this picture. Thinking over what you have seen, you realize that a person, his soul belong to both the earth and the sky, this infinite Space. The starry sky, deep, bottomless, is maddening with its incomprehensibility and grandeur, which we look at with a sinking heart. This infinity attracts, makes you think, dream, write poems and poems, create canvases.

John Everett Millais' "The Death of Ophelia" is a masterpiece of Victorian art that depicts the tragic end of William Shakespeare's character Ophelia from his play "Hamlet." The painting was completed in 1851 and is currently housed in the Tate Britain museum in London. The painting depicts Ophelia floating in a river, surrounded by flowers and greenery. Her body is limp and lifeless, and her dress is flowing with the current of the water. Her face is serene, and her eyes are closed, indicating that she has peacefully passed away. The use of color in the painting is significant. Millais uses bright and vibrant colors to create a stark contrast between Ophelia's lifeless body and the vibrant flowers and foliage surrounding her. The flowers floating around her, including forget-me-nots, daisies, and roses, symbolize different aspects of Ophelia's life and death. The forget-me-nots represent memory, the daisies represent innocence, and the red roses represent love.Millais' depiction of Ophelia's death is both beautiful and haunting. The painting captures the essence of the character Ophelia, who is depicted as a fragile and vulnerable young woman who ultimately meets a tragic end.Millais' "The Death of Ophelia" is also significant for its historical context. The painting was created during the Victorian era, a time when mental illness was often stigmatized and misunderstood. Ophelia's death in "Hamlet" is widely regarded as a result of her mental breakdown, and Millais' painting depicts her death with sympathy and compassion. The painting portrays Ophelia as a victim of her circumstances, rather than a fallen woman, which was a common theme in Victorian art.In conclusion, John Everett Millais' "The Death of Ophelia" is a masterpiece of Victorian art that captures the essence of William Shakespeare's tragic character. Millais' use of vibrant colors and symbolism creates a haunting and beautiful depiction of Ophelia's death, while also providing a compassionate portrayal of mental illness during the Victorian era. The painting remains a timeless work of art that continues to inspire and captivate viewers to this day.

This graffiti (street art) is believed to be the work of the infamous street art artist Banksy. The identity of this person or group of people is not known, but if this drawing was indeed drawn by Banksy, then the inhabitants of Droitwich were lucky. Now the streets of their city are decorated with the work of such a famous author. I like the style, the dark colors and the social message of this work. Very detailed work that gives food for thought.

Graffiti is a very attractive art form. Despite the fact that many underestimate the authors and their work, many works hide a lot of meaning behind them. As is this picture. The thought-provoking piece.

"American Gothic" is a famous painting by the American artist Grant Wood, created in 1930. The painting shows a farmer and his daughter in front of a house with a pointed gothic window. The man is holding a pitchfork, and both he and the daughter have stern expressions. The painting is known for its highly detailed and realistic style, its use of color and stark contrasts, and its commentary on the traditional values and lifestyles of rural America. It is considered one of the most iconic images in American art.
The man is older, so it is possible that we are looking at a father and his unmarried daughter.

The man is dressed in overalls but also in a black jacket, while the woman is wearing a piece of jewellery: they have made an effort to dress up, perhaps for the painter or to celebrate an important moment in their lives.
The fork is the third character in this painting. If you look carefully, you will see it on the man’s overalls, on his face and on the upper window of the house.
Unless, by this gesture, the man is telling us “No entry” to protect the secrets kept in this house, whose closed curtains in the middle of the day suggest that something is being kept from us…

Another interpretation: this dark atmosphere, associated with the worried look of the woman dressed in a black dress, evokes the mourning of a certain idea of America, lost in the serious economic crisis of the 1930s.

Masha Lobach MFL-41
