The cost of living has been increasing tremendously from the past and it is causing financial problems for people with low income. Due to this situation, the allowance that students received from their parents is limited so they have to manage their finance well and set budgets in order to cope with high living expenses.

For example, the Malaysia Government has implemented Goods and Service Tax (GST) and all the daily needs such as food and clothes and many other products are charged for additional 6% of the price which increase the average cost of living. Students with very little allowance tends to involve themselves in part-time jobs in order to help to cover their family’s expenses and lessen their parents’ financial burden. Furthermore, students also make study loans from National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) to cover their university tuition fees and obtain some extra allowance which could help them to buy study materials.
