I was an advanced reader in elementary school but just stopped enjoying and advancing in reading as I got older because I never felt challenged. I was surprised they mentioned this because I feel like we typically do not focus on learning how to help students who are advanced in a subject, but rather students who are struggling in a subject.

Differentiation means meeting all students needs by discovering what their reading level is and which skills they need to work on. It also means keeping students engaged and motivated by providing text they will enjoy. Another important component is assessing students to know how they are (or are not) progressing with reading. It also is necessary to use different teaching strategies or models, and to work with support staff such as reading specialists, special education teachers, school aides, volunteers, and tutors.
