<title>The Other in &quot; The Allegory of the Cave&quot; by Lauren Curcio</title>

<description>In your opinion, by the end of the story, who takes on the role of &quot;the other&quot;: the man who left or the men who remain? Back up your response with at least ONE reason why. </description>

<title>The men who remained become &quot;the other&quot; because the enlightened individual is now able to recognize and create a division; this division is known only to the enlightened, which in turn makes him part of a new reality and the men who stayed in the cave become &quot;the other&quot; outside of that new reality. &amp;nbsp;</title>

<title>In my opinion, the man who left the cave is now &quot;the other&quot; because he is separated from the majority. He is now isolated from the other prisoners because of his newly gained knowledge. He became &quot;the other&quot; as soon as he learned about the rest of the world. He will never be able to return to a full member of the prisoner group because of his insight about the real world.</title>

<title>I think the prisoner that was released from the cave becomes the &quot;other&quot;. &amp;nbsp;&quot; The Allegory of the Cave&quot; explores the idea of the ignorance of the prisoners and their perception of reality. &amp;nbsp;Because of that, I think that the perspective of the story should be based from the prisoners&#39; perception. &amp;nbsp;Once a prisoner leaves, then returns, the other prisoners can not recognize the man as one of their own. &amp;nbsp; He then takes on the role of the &quot;other&quot; because he is not discernable from the other people to the prisoners.</title>
