http://www.tradingeconomics.com/canada/consumer-credit
This picture is relevant to my chosen topic of research because it shows how Canada's credit over this past year has fluctuated. This graph makes sense that it is ever growing because each year more people come into Canada, and more money is spent. When more money is spent, the credit grows and the economy grows as well.

This website offers many pieces of information, one of them being that credit in Canada continues to grow as the time passes. As you can see from this chart, the consumers credit in Canada has grown a lot in the span of just 10 months (October 2015 to July 2016).

It is a faster and easier way to pay, but also promotes more spending because if you don't have the cash with you now or don't have enough cash to spend right now, you can use the card as a money loan to buy now and pay later. This helps with the economy because more spending from customers equals more money for the economy (banks, employees, companies, etc.)

This means that if the economy is rising (in retail especially) than customers are spending money which means credit it rising as well. More spending from consumers also promotes steady employment rates or an increasing/growing percentage of employment.

If spending stops, it will lead to unpleasant significances (such as unemployment ore recession, etc.). Spending money is good for the economy, but it is safer for the individual to know that he/she can afford the good or service.

As specified in the article, it tells us that it is not a high rate. It also tells us that because our interest rate isn’t high, we would anticipate for the economy’s consumers credit to be higher (because we now have more money to spend), however, this is not the case.

This is a very low number which in return of the money collected from the interest also effects our economy. I think that if more people were to know this fact about credit cards, or if more people were to read up on it, they would think twice before making unnecessary purchases and have less debt.
