- The topic that we are going to focus on is sexism in Vietnam because we recognized that there are an ideology among the Vietnamese society where sexism is accepted and widely adapted. The majority of our research is primary, coming from personal experience and observations from surrounding society.
- The perspective of our composition is coming from the victim of sexism.
- The purpose of our composition is to raise awareness of the issue in the society using a neutral tone to encourage people to register the issue with more importance and urgency. The targeted audience is everyone with the Vietnamese ideology which is also relevant to many others around the world.

First we came up with the guitar part. Minh was playing these chord progression in a loop as I improvise melody and lyrics. I was recording the lyrics through the process and at the end I recorded the melody so I don't forget. The reason we went through the process in this order because melody and lyrics are harder to match up with the chords progression therefore it is done afterwards.

First we plan to write a list of acts of sexism that the victim go through but we wanted to focus on one aspect of sexism as it will be easier for us to develop it in depth. We decided on domestic violent. The initial purpose that we planned was to create a song with a neutral tone to raise awareness but we decided to form our song into a narrative structure and convey a sad mood to provoke sympathy.

Therefore to have a more synchronized vocal and guitar part, the word "Wondering" is crossed out.

As I was singing the the verse, I improvised the melody and lyrics for the chorus. The chords progression for the verse didn't really match so we had to change it up. The differing chords actually helped to develop a melody that stands out from the verse but still some chords are the same so the song feels connected throughout. It is not only a song for English speaker and Vietnamese speaker as separate groups. But we remembered that our main audience is both English and Vietnamese speakers. Therefore for them, the song would be too boring as the lyrics is a repetition but in two languages. So we have rewrote the lyrics for the second verse to continue and build on the story instead.

From the chords progression for the verses, Minh developed a guitar riff to be played as an introduction. I was improvising a bridge but based it on the chorus to create the bridge. Our song has a dark and sad mood so far therefore for our bridge we wanted to steer the story into a hopeful place and end the song in a happy ending. Developing from the melody and chord progression from last class, we completed the bridge. We also work on improving on the feedback given from last class. Reflecting on today's progress, we still need a lot of practice as our transitions haven't been very smooth. Vocally, it was challenging for me to memorize the starting note of the chorus therefore I always comes in off tune as I transition from the verse to the chorus. We need to focus on the transitions between each parts because we have composed each part separately and therefore we need to work on a smoother transition.

Feedback:
- The introduction seems disconnected from the rest of the song.

Responding to the feedback, Minh needs to again practice on playing with more accents so that the rhythm of the song would be more clearer. - Guitar needs to play a more accented first beat
- Vocal needs to enunciate the words so the lyrics is clearer

Responding to the feedback, Minh needs to practice playing the guitar intro smoothly before adding more accents. And I need to be more confident when performing which will allow me to better enunciate the lyrics clearly.

Therefore we worked on selecting a style ideas that we have already came up with to match with each of the parts. We decided for both verses, the guitar will do a picking pattern as before. During both the choruses and bridge, the guitar will do a strumming pattern and we have scraped the other idea because it didn't follow the 3/4 feel. We also performed the whole song to the class.

Feedback:
- Edward says even though the 3/4 time signature wasn't maintain throughout the song, it wasn't necessary because the chorus contrasts the verses which makes it stands out more
- There shouldn't be a time signature change, it should be consistent throughout

She commented on the phrase "cắn răng" it is not a suitable to use as it is too informal and we need to use a word that is more poetic. Therefore we have changed that phrase to "nính thinh" which has parallel meaning but it is more graceful and poetic.

We also practiced playing through the whole song once smoothly.
