Binghamton, NY, an hour south of Syracuse and over 3 hours northwest of NYC, is the Carousel Capital of the World. Local philanthropist and Endicott-Johnson Shoe Founder George F. Johnson donated six carousels to local parks. To this day, children (and adults) can ride the carousels for free, as he intended. Home of the "spiedie," Binghamton is the beloved hometown of "Twilight Zone" creator Rod Serling and also the birthplace of IBM.
