English actually serves a concrete communicative function when  Chinese nationals who have contact with non-Chinese nationals Besides English is a linguistic capital that could be beneficial to employment and career development of individuals. 

 

AS to the students, English language education in China at the moment still needs to be improved to meet their expectations and needs(about communication skill)

 

I think that as a teacher, we should consciously guide students to form an English mode of thinking, not just to teach vocabulary and grammar, such as guiding students to build a language framework in English and complete logical analysis. As a student, you should pay attention to the practicality of English as a language, how to achieve effective communication, how to use English to get effective information, and read an article, which is where students need to concentrate.

I prefer Anita’s statement. In my opinion, knowledge is your understanding of different kinds of science, culture and so on. However, belief is your personal thinking or personal attitude towards the particular things. So, knowledgeable people may have similar beliefs with people who have less knowledge in the same thing. As for learning a language, I think it’s always helpful. Different languages have their own ways of thinking or their own beliefs. Once you learn a new language, you learn a new way of thinking and accept a new belief. It can enrich your thoughts and broaden your horizon. 

As for learning a language, I think there are more advantages than disadvantages. Different people in different areas speak different languages. Being able to speak another language means you can communicate with people far away from you. So you can learn the knowledge of others and even do business with them. Language is a tool, not only for communication, but also for other things. People speaking different languages have different potential beliefs and cultures. Once you learn a new language, you are likely to see or think a thing from a different angel. It helps you know it more completely. When it comes to disadvantages, maybe it will cost you lots of time and energy. Also, it may be boring when you try to remember new words. 

I studied in China’s education system for 19 years from kindergarten to university and I have studied in western education system for nearly a month. In China, we always have many students in one class while I have much less classmates now. Teachers can know how students learn more clearly here. In China, we always listen when the teacher is talking. It’s impolite to interrupt. However, we can talk easily when we have the answer or have a different opinion. In China, education is always exam oriented. For example, we seldom practice English speaking while we concentrate on listening, reading and writing. 

  I think the China education system is suitable for China’s situation. It focuses the grade of the students because the gap between the rich and the poor is still wide. The poor may not have much chance to learn other skills or travel around as the rich. So if the school consider other factor, the rich can benefit from it. While the student in western education seem to be more creative. 

students get low mark in  English 

 when they attend college entrance examination will influence which school they can enter,but this effect  is not definite.The level of students is decided by comprehensive ability not a certain subject.

 

Definitely adopt one more spoken section in any examination of China. 

Also as far as I know，high range of Chinese rich people send their son and daughter abroad to study, so this social phenomenon Can lead a trend to all of the people.and also I can be an easy way to study with those rich 2 generations. 

America has become a superpower for recent years. Its cultural output by the media has affected globally as the results. Moreover, due to the science and technology in English-speaking countries like America, Britain, Australia, etc., academic papers and journals are adapted widely, maintaining accurate format and criteria. 

 

On the other hand, I like travel around the world, we can’t communicate with other people with Cantonese, English is absolutely essential. As the international language of aviation, pilots and cabin crew all need to speak English. Even if you’re not up in the air, speaking English accurately will ensure you are able to communicate with people all over the world. So, English means a lot in my life.

 

After the Olympics game in 2008, I think Chinese people will realized that learning English is not only a benefit to the people of China for Olympics games, but it also helps with China’s economy and world relationships.
