Puck is apologizing to the audience for their mess ups and tells them to consider it like a dream, an event that never happened, this is very similar to Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius, and Helena as they assumed that the events in the forest as a dream. this also connects to real life as some people can consider bad events as bad dreams and people's lives can be treated as a dream.

In a similar manner, Bottom also addresses the audience, thus , the significance of a play within a play is portrayed. Shakespeare also reflects his perception of reality as Puck states : “and this weak and idle theme, no more yielding but a dream”. This broadens the significance of dreams as reality itself might also be considered a dream. People are temporarily not in control of their perceptions and emotions in dreams  . Similarly, people in reality are often not in control of their perceptions and emotions .
