The benefits of the geography of Japan is that the mountains act as a natural barrier so invading countries will have a hard time invading them, there ports are good for exporting and importing materials, and there natural resources are good for powering their things because coal is 26.5% of their energy source. The drawback is that they are isolated in their country because the mountains are hard to climb or walk over. The sea/ocean ports are the most important because it makes it easier to trade with other countries which is important because if you don't have something important and if another country has it then it will be easy to get it because they have a port.
