The biggest dream I see is money. Most people in the book have money. You see the struggle of getting money to support yourself and the different obstacles you have to go through to get there. For example Gatsby's parents were poor and he continually worked to earn his living and once he got it he was not afraid to show it off. With the base knowledge that The American Dream is an equal platform for all to achieve success we can see why Americans feel to Passionate about this. Looking back at the history of American we see many things that are unjust. Two of the biggest things that come to mind for me is the invasion of the native americans and their home land and slavery. As I feel we have made many steps in the right direction I feel we have not met perfection. Manu people face bigger obstacles based upon their race. No doubt we have made leaps from where we were during the time of slavery but that does not mean we have reached equality. In a recent Meta-study (combination of studies from Harvard, Northwestern, and Massachusets)they found that there has been no noticeable change in the level of hiring discrimination against African Americans in the past 25 years. This study shows that "Since 1989, whites receive on average 36% more callbacks than blacks, and 24% more callbacks than Latinos".
