         <title>Linda Brecht is exploring making visible thinking strategies with technology. In studying ecosystems, she had students watch a video about the wolves of Yellowstone to prompt their thinking to the impact of ecosystems. Students were able to make connections by commenting on each others&#39; writing. </title>

         <title>Kim Ord&#39;s focus is on math this year. She is working on spiraling concepts so students continue to see them as new units are introduced. In one lesson she combined digital with hands on exploration of angles. Students analyzed angles in buildings and how to find complimentary angles. The other half of the class explored angles on the wall outside. She believes exposing students to the concept in multiple ways allows student to fully achieve the learning target. </title>

         <title>Allison Smith&#39;s focus this year is on differentiation in literacy centers. She is working on building independence in students so that she can work with a small group, while the others engage in activities that support their learning. She is working closely with the gifted teacher to develop centers that students can navigate on their own. </title>

         <title>Allison Smith is also working on phonics instruction. Students work in whole class phonics sorts to make new words using the sounds they know. She is working on incorporating manipulatives that support this work, so she can support students in small groups. </title>

         <title>Mrs. Callihan is looking to increase student reading levels in a variety of ways. She noticed that several students do not get the opportunity to read aloud at home, so these students are able to use Raz Kids to read aloud with assistance. These can be recorded so Sue can listen to student reading after the class period ends. </title>

         <title>Kim Ord combines project based learning in a mini unit on hurricanes. After learning about research in digital learning, Kim wanted to combine student driven research in science. Students led the discussion of what they wanted learn by developing a list of questions. These were used throughout the mini-unit as a reference of &quot;what are we learning and what do we still want to know more about?&quot; The class connected to a school recently affected by a hurricane. Students used Google maps to research the location of the school and why a hurricane might have formed there. </title>

         <title>Sue Callihan is partnering with a 3rd grade class for a project based unit on happiness. This unit is driven by students. They learned about different types of happiness and discussed what makes them happy. The students designed a survey that was sent home to parents to ask what they do infuse happiness in their family time. While we discussed Google forms for the survey, it was decided that a paper survey was best for reaching all families. </title>

         <title>Linda Brecht is working on writing with a purpose. Students learned about regions on the country. They combined argumentative writing with their knowledge of the economies to persuade Dr. Brecht to visit their communities.  They used data bases to research and multiple drafts across Google docs. </title>

         <title>Gaming and team building. Linda Brecht and Kim Ord used Quizlet Live to review for assessments. This allows students to review material through an engaging activity. Students must work together to figure out who has the answer. If they get one wrong, then they start back at the beginning. This guides them to learn which questions they need more practice with. </title>
