The way I interpreted the poem is Walt Whitman being critical towards himself and his work. I think this because of the quote "Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish,

Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)." In this quote, Walt Whitman is saying that cities are filled with foolish people and that he can be one of those foolish people.

The impact I hope to leave on the world is just to be known as somebody who truly lived life to its fullest. I want people to look back on my life and see the connections I've made and the things I've done and be flabbergasted by how I lived life and did not let life "live me." In order to do this, I do little things day by day like making conversation with random people or going out whenever I can. This puts me in some situations that I don't want to be in, which makes me learn and grow as a person.
