My American Dream Project by ShaQyah Briscoe

Everyone has a dream to strive for; many go after their dream. My American Dream is for everyone to have an equal opportunity at something they want no matter the race or gender. We should be able to be successful with hard work and determination. My goal is to go to college to become a smart, successful Physical Therapist with my own business.

She encourages me everyday to work hard and strive for what I want to be in life. She is teaching me to earn things in life and that its not given.

I can overcome this by trying to focus more on my work.
2. I am also lazy at times and don't want to do work. I need to start forcing myself and do all my work at once instead doing them in different time frames

" Someday we’re gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an’ a cow and some pigs and—” “An’ live off the fatta the lan’,” Lennie shouted. “An’ have rabbits. Go on, George! Tell about what we’re gonna have in the garden" page 56.
This quote represents my American Dream because Lennie and George are poor workers. Their American Dream is to work hard to have a better life. Lennie and George wants to have a farm of their own with rabbits and other animals. This relates to me because they encourage me to work hard for what I want. I want to become a successful Physical Therapist and I know I would have to put in hard work for 7 years of college, then some to reach the success that want for myself.

O, let America be America again—
The land that never has been yet—
And yet must be—the land where every man is free.
The land that’s mine—the poor man’s, Indian’s, Negro’s, ME—
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again

This stanza explains how they worked hard to make America , when everyone was free. They all had equal opportunities before everyone got judged for their races. This relates to me because I feel like it doesn't matter what race I am to be as successful as the next person or even more. The hard work, dedication, and determination should be what you focus on and not the race nor gender of a person.
