Participant-Proposed DAO (PPD) by Thư Nguyễn

The Participant-Proposed DAO is a community-selected, fully co-created project. During the application phase, participants submit ideas, and at the Kickoff Event, DAO members vote to choose one project as the fourth DAO of Cohort 2. It reflects decentralized innovation by empowering participants to define its mission, impact, and regeneration strategy based on their shared interests.
Empowering Farmers Through Innovation & DAOs

Proposal for the Participant-Proposed DAO (PPD) – DEP Cohort 2

Proposed by: João Emerson Lobo, Mozambique, Nampula

Mission: Increase income and opportunities for smallholder farmers by transforming subsistence agriculture into organized, market-oriented systems through collective action and decentralized coordination.

Impact Goal (Cohort 2): 50 farmers organized in Nampula, minimum 20% net income increase per farmer, 3 active buyer agreements, and a simple tracking MVP using mobile phones.

Regeneration Goal: Raise $3,000 through light success fees, community crowdfunding, local sponsorships, and anonymized data reporting.

Fundraising Strategy

Target Amount Needed for Operations: $2,000 (covers transport, mobile data, small farmer incentives, documentation, and contingency)

Sources of Funding:

First, apply to Web3 impact funds like Gitcoin Grants, Octant, or Celo Climate Collective within the first two months. These funds value transparency and real-world impact in underserved communities.

Second, launch a simple "Adopt a Farmer" crowdfunding campaign on WhatsApp and Instagram. For as little as $20, a supporter helps one farmer access collective bargaining and training. The campaign goal is $1,000 to $1,500.

Third, approach local input suppliers and small processors for sponsorship. A seed company, for example, could provide fertilizer or seeds in exchange for visibility among 50 organized farming families.

Fourth, collect a small success fee of 3% to 5% on each collective sale, paid by the buyer after delivery. This creates ongoing, sustainable revenue without burdening farmers.

Finally, sell anonymized production and price reports to NGOs, universities, or development programs. With farmer consent, these insights are valuable for research and policy.

Key materials for fundraising: a one-page pitch deck with photos, a short video recorded on a mobile phone, weekly WhatsApp updates, and a public transaction ledger (spreadsheet or on-chain) showing exactly how every dollar is spent.

Transparency commitment: All donors receive biweekly updates with stories, photos, and progress against goals. A final impact report shows income increases, signed agreements, and farmer testimonials.

Sample crowdfunding message: "With $20, you can help one farmer in Nampula increase their income by 20% this season. The AgriImpact DAO is transparent, community-led, and focused on real results. See where every cent goes.

Proposed by: João Emerson Lobo

Location: Nampula, Mozambique

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joão-emerson-l-286718136?utm_source=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=member_ios

Email: joaoemerson2026@gmail.com

Empowering Eastern Indonesia via Decentralized Regenerative Tourism

Hello everyone! I am Abraham Soyem, and I’m thrilled to join this community. My journey is rooted in the vibrant landscapes of Ambon, Maluku, where I’ve dedicated my work to bridging the gap between local wisdom and sustainable economic growth.

As a consultant and commissioner focused on community-based tourism, my mission is to ensure that the beauty of Eastern Indonesia’s islands benefits the people who call them home.

The Vision: DAO for Community-Based Tourism (CBT)

I am currently proposing a decentralized approach to tourism management. By leveraging DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) structures, we can shift power back to local coastal communities.

The Goal: To create a transparent, community-led governance model that manages local tourism assets, ensuring that profits and decision-making power remain in the hands of the villagers.

The Context: Eastern Indonesia’s unique geography requires hyper-local, resilient systems that traditional centralized models often overlook.

The Roadmap: Planning & Execution ($3,000 Annual Pilot)

With a lean, strategic budget, the focus is on foundational digital literacy and governance framework:

Phase 1: Community Onboarding & Tech Literacy ($1,000) Conducting workshops in Maluku to introduce decentralized governance concepts and digital tools to local stakeholders.

Phase 2: Framework Development ($1,200) Drafting the "Smart Contract" equivalents for community rules—defining how tourism revenue is redistributed to local education and infrastructure.

Phase 3: Pilot Execution & Monitoring ($800) Launching a micro-DAO for a specific eco-tourism site to track bookings and community payouts transparently.

Let’s Connect!

I believe that the future of tourism is inclusive, sustainable, and decentralized. I’m eager to exchange ideas on how technology can serve remote communities and create lasting impact.

Spread the positive energy!
