Book 1

Main character: Darrell Rivers 

Darrell is in her new boarding school and is making friends rapidly so I think she is really friendly but she tends to lose her temper quite a bit. She is caring and very very hyper sometimes. She is a great swimmer and a great diver. She never gives up also tries not to disappoint anyone. Darrell is also a critical thinker and a problem solver. 

Week Seven (The last bit I read)
She realises her mistakes -  After Darrell does something bad she feel sorry if she hurt somebody because in the part I am in Darrell kicked Sally across the room hurt her in the tummy and Sally is really hurt. Darrell kicked Sally across the room because Sally was not talking to Darrell or listening to Darrell, and that made Darrell really frustrated so Darrell kicked her.    

Week 8
Self-blaming - because after Darrell kicked Sally, Sally needed to go to the clinic and that night Darrell called herself wicked, coward ex. and blamed herself for the tummy ache Sally has but I think Sally has a tummy ache for a different reason. I think Darrell has now got a bit of her courage back because she want to write to Sally's mother about what happened and also ask Sally's mother about Sally and her baby sister. 
Now Darrell feels much better because her dad who is a doctor did Sally's operation and said that Sally had appendicitis. Darrell was so relieved that she had not caused Sally's pain.

Chapter 2
He caring and brave because he fell and got hurt to see if somebody who was in a car crash was okay. He can talk to animals but not humans. He is a critical thinker and a problem solver.
 
Chapter 3
He is kind and like to offer things. He is patient, curious, positive, never gives up, very determined, strong, carful, courages, adventurous, smart. He lied for a good reason - to save him the dog and his mom. Creative - because he looks for creative words to help the dog relax. Problem solver - he solves things and is patient when the dog acts differently.

Chapter 7
In the end, the boy is more confident because a year later not only was he speaking but he was speaking in a firm voice. Clues found: Black hair with a empty patch in the middle, blue socks with thin red stripes, clean shaved, small holes wear they saw the thief.

Prediction: I think someone who walked on the stills might have taken the necklace because the holes could have been from the stilts.

Realistic Fiction

Chapter 11:
Main Idea of the chapter:  Is Stanleys point of view about X-ray.

I think that Stanley shouldn't have agreed to what X-ray said, because if Stanley found it, why should X-ray get the day off.

Chapter 14:
If Stanley had found the gold tube then the warden must have know cause there were cameras and microphones.

I think that Stanley is a bit self-conscious, because he thought it would look silly if performed the nursery rhyme.

Chapter 23:
I wonder why Zero chose Stanley to learn from when he could learn from any of the other people in camp D?
I notice that the that peach baker's name is Kathrine Barlow...
I wonder why the author is focusing on the feet every once in a while?
I learned that Kathrine Barlow that she is very strong in her decisions...

Themes i'm noticing in Holes:

I think that Linda is connected to the Warden because it might have been passed down generations and made the camp so that the boys could dig up the loot.

I think that the "lake" is so dry that even the storm that's coming in, will get soaked up even if it takes some time.
In my writing I will try to use show not tell and try to drop in clues leading to one big thing which I think this author does well.

I think the will find Madame Zeroni's cottage and make it their "house" for a while, because Zero's actual name is Hector Zeroni. I think their water source will be the river.

Character changes I've noticed in Stanley:
Some changes I've noticed are he doesn't lie as much now. He is physically changed because now he is much stronger. Earlier in the story Stanley used to do whatever he was told but later in the story he does whatever he think is right.

Chapter 48:
I think that the camp figured out that Zero stole the shoes and released Stanley and Zero needs to dig for another 18 months, or it was already time for Stanley to leave.

A new message I found is that lying is not always bad.

Last Chapter

 Ending Prediction
I predict Stanley and Zero become really good friends, and Zero goes and lives with Stanley.
I also think that the warden will get arrested because she had no file against Zero and she lied a lot.

In this book the social issue is... Animal rights.

I think the antagonist in this book is Mack, because he is keeping all his animals in a bad manner unlike Helen would. Helen would let the animals run around and be free.
Mack is keeping them in one small domain each, I think Mack is doing this to make the animals listen to him.

Special needs

I think Oliver is a spoilt kid, he has a lot but wants more which I think he is going to get.
My prediction was wrong because Oliver is very caring and loving to everybody but especially animals.
