Charcoal Still Life on Toned Paper

I was unable to use a variety of values, and struggle adding in the highlights of the objects. The drawing adequately filled the space of the paper. If i did this project again, I would spend more time on the lighter objects as it is easier to get darker than to get lighter. I did not enjoy this project because it felt monotonous and i do not particularly like gray scale pictures, out side of simple pencil sketches.

One-Point Perspective Room

My experience with this project was simple and well executed, I loved working with the shading of objects I had never drawn before, though I struggled with the circular objects more than the rest. It was difficult choosing which objects were darker than others based on their colors, but once a general scale was developed for each object it was simple to add shading from an unknown light source. I also found it difficult to add in highlights because I tend to avoid those as they make pictures look glossy and faux. My room looks 3D because it accurately represents a room, featuring depth in each piece of furniture and the corners. If I were to do this project again, I would make sure to sketch each piece of furniture in and not add them loosely as I began shading, I would also start with lights because I had a tendency to spread the darker parts of my design.

Chalk pastel is my favorite medium, and i had a lot of fun learning how to manage the strokes and the colors. This project gave me a lot of freedom because i could put down specific colors where i wanted them, as part of the genre.
