         <description><![CDATA[<div>The process of gamification is something that is on the rise within education. As time progresses, school's are realizing a decrease in engagement from students. This is because many students are funneled together and told to learn in on specific manner. Scott Hebert explains that play is a fundamental need of human learning. Do you feel this is the case? Also, do you believe gamification is the sole answer to the education crisis or is it a piece of a much larger puzzle to be solved? </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I feel as though "games" have been used in education. I can remember playing a Jeopardy type game to remember history and science facts in middle school and high school. As we move into an intense digital age those games have transferred from the blackboard to a screen. Play is fundamental for healthy development in all students. Play serves as a great mean to gamify education and play is typically very engaging for students. The follow up question I would have is "what type of play is engaging for students." For example competitive type games could cause some students to feel self-conscious thus causing them to shut down. Or would they be individual games? But then would individual type games decrease socialization among peers. I think gamification is a piece of a larger puzzle. Student engagement could be affected by teacher engagement in which teachers don't feel supported or are not equipped with the means to teach effectively. This feeling could then transfer to the students and leave them with a feeling of apathy towards learning. However, play can also bring joy to learning and increase educators excitement and engagement and improve student's ability to retain learned knowledge. I feel gamification can assist with engagement and that it is a piece of the solution to the education crisis that we are facing. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I don't think that gamification is THE answer to the education crisis, but more so a piece of the puzzle as you put it. I'm a believer of the multi modal learning and gamification can be the key to unlocking the mind of many students, it is not the only answer. That being said, I do think that it brings a tangible and transparent aspect to education that can have a huge positive outcome for many learners.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think gamification is part of the puzzle to the education problems we are facing. I think student learn in different ways and gamification could be a positive modality for many students. I think there are over arching institutional problems that are also affecting student engagement. However, play based learning is definitely beneficial for development which can be accomplished through gamification. I feel that it is a piece of the puzzle as you mentioned. </div>]]></description>

Gamification can play a large role in improving student engagement. School systems need to be prepared to provide the training and materials necessary to help teachers better incorporate gamification in their classrooms. </div>]]></description>
