I will be providing links to each of the survey directly to participants' email addresses. The first survey will open on September 2 and close around October 15, depending on response rates. I will be working with OLi4 staff to figure out the best times for the winter and spring surveys--and communication about those will come directly from me to participants.

"Identify one or two school or district improvements that could positively impact the student and explain why." Can you define what is meant by "district or school improvements?" Strategies? Systems?

Yes--improvements are strategies. Those could be systems (e.g., implementing MTSS) or practices (e.g., using gradual release teaching methods). They could also implicate instructional materials (e.g., replacing an outdated reading series with a Science of Reading series).

We have concerns about identifying student initials along with request for "as specific information as possible" that might be sensitive. Has this been run by legal? Should we be getting parent permission to include their student?

The idea is to anonymize the students. The data will be coming to WordFarmers, and we won't be sharing any personal details with anyone. However, the principals can make up initials or use a numeric code so long as they use the same code or initials for students on each of the three surveys. This is an approach we have used with other SDI Center data-collection efforts; and it's worked well.

The state expects us to show student outcomes in the areas of literacy and math with attendance, behavior, and other areas as supporting pieces to academic outcomes. Therefore, should we be choosing students who we show academic growth with academic strategies? Or can we choose students who have non-academic needs?

Academic and non-academic needs are both important (and actually interrelated). So you can choose any students with evident needs.
