(Homer 948) Zeus was not on his side trying to make him never return to Ithaca only. <strong>Hero Journey plot points, </strong>Athena is helping him in this chapter. "My home is on the peaked sea-mark of Ithaca." (Homer 953) <strong>Greek Value,</strong> No ship made sail the next day for the cry they do for all of those who have fallen on the battle field. <strong>Characterization,</strong> When Odysseus told his men to return to the ship they didn't do what was told.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Rule of the gods,</strong> "As Circe spoke, Dawn mounted her golden throne, and on the first rays she left me."         (Homer 675) She tries to capture the rest of the people who fought. Form is being upheld. Odysseus is trying to make his crew untie him. <strong>Hero Journey plot points,</strong> "No long task, for a burning heat came down from Helios." (Homer 977) Helios did this for making wax for Odysseus men to put in there ears to not hear the song. <strong>Greek Value,</strong> His men are finally listening to him when he tell them not to untie him for any reason when the song is playing. <strong>Characterization,</strong> "You are to tie me up, tight as a splint." (Homer 975) He doesn't want to be able to get out because then he will turn the boat to the singing.</div>]]></description>

Zeus will help them try to get through the monsters without losing to much men. <strong>Hero Journey plot points,</strong> "Took up, two heavy spears, then made my way along to the foredeck." (Homer 979) He is making his way to the front to kill the beasts that they are about to encounter. <strong>Greek Value,</strong> Bravery is not being shown by the men when they know there are monsters in this cave. <strong>Characterization,</strong> "My men all blanched against the gloom." (Homer 980) The men went to all hide because they don't know what to do also because they are afraid.</div>]]></description>

(Homer 416) With Odysseus upsetting Zeus even more he puts a curse on him and his crew for never getting home. <strong>Hero Journey plot points, </strong>"I drew on all my wits and ran through tactics." (Homer 277) Athena gave Odysseus wisdom at points in the story when he needs it most. <strong>Greek Value, </strong>Hospitality is happening in this chapter when Odysseus is giving the cyclops wine. <strong>Characterization,</strong> Yet I refused, I wished to see the caveman. (Homer 171) This caused many of his men to die also curiosity played a role.</div>]]></description>

(Homer 969) He give Odysseus with a bag of wind but when there about to be home his men open it making them go far back to the land of Aeolia. <strong>Hero Journey plot points  </strong>"Consults the blind Tiresias" (Homer<strong> </strong>969) Odysseus talks to Tiresias in the underworld to figure out a way to get home to Ithaca. <strong>Greek Value,</strong> Truth is being violated when his men opened the sack of wind. <strong>Characterization,</strong> "Let my long Sword ring home to the pommel silver." (Homer 973) On our journey bad things will happen and it will not be good.</div>]]></description>

He did this because Helios told him to because Odysseus me ate his sheep even thought they were told not to do it. <strong>Hero Journey plot points,</strong> "O cruel drowsing, in the evil hour." Helios is not happy to find out that they men and Odysseus ate his sheep. <strong>Greek Value,</strong> They didn't show respect to the gods when they were eating Helios sheep's. <strong>Characterization,</strong> "Now I let go with hands and feet, plunging straight into the foam beside the timbers." (Homer 985) Odysseus is trying to get out away from Scylla.</div>]]></description>

(Homer 996) He has now been changed to a beggar now to see what all exactly has happened. <strong>Greek Value,</strong> Honesty is being upheld because Penelope is not with someone else yet. <strong>Characterization,</strong> " I am that father whom your childhood lacked." (Homer 996) His son has finally met him but when he does he does not believe that it is really him though since he changed right in front of him.</div>]]></description>

(Homer 1004) He doesn't want to think about what has happened.</div>]]></description>

(Homer 1016) No one could ever mover it because it is made around my bed. <strong>Greek Value,</strong> Truth is being upheld here because he is being true for who he says he is but Penelope does not believe it his really him since it has been so long. <strong>Characterization,</strong> " No one ever matched your caution" (Homer 1016) He was being very carful of what he was doing so no one knew who he was until he was changed back to him normal self.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Suitors</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Role of the gods, </strong>"Still disguised as a beggar..."  (Homer1001). Athena changes Odysseus as a beggar to help him find who has stayed loyal to him when he was gone. <br><strong>Hero Journey plot points,</strong> "Telemachus, sat still without a tear, shook his head from side to side..." (Homer 1003). Telemachus is acting as an friend during this episode and staying calm until the time comes to kill the suitors. <br><strong>Greek Value, </strong>"A poor show...bad business, if he happened to be a god. You know they go in foreign guise, to keep an eye on manners..." (Homer 1002) One of the suitors was saying Odysseus may be a god in disguise and Antonius should be careful about how he treats him but he doesn't care.<br><strong>Characterization, </strong>"There is no pain, no burden for the heart when blows come to a man, and he defending his own cattle..." (Homer 1002). Odysseus has been a loyal man who went to  great efforts to protect his wife and home with his son. </div>]]></description>
