https://padlet.com/broderickschofield/ij9hg0f3zqs940h Made with ♥ en-us 2021-12-14 11:11:45 UTC 2025-03-01 02:50:28 UTC hello@padlet.com https://padlet.net/icons/png/1f3b6.png broderickschofield https://padlet.com/broderickschofield/ij9hg0f3zqs940h/wish/1946704415 As a child I had a problem with tone deafness.  However, I assure you this did not affect my the dynamics at which I sang.  I have always been the biggest fan of music and in particular, singing.  Around 3rd Grade I started playing piano and this helped me develop an ear and overcome my tone deafness.  Not only this, it also gave me an idea of tempo, rhythm, and made me more familiar with some musical terms.  Around highschool I would really explore some of those tempo and rhythm based themes as I became more of a musician.  It was a great outlet for me, I made friends who I would go on band trips with, I would look forward to sitting with my friends in band class, and it was a welcome break from the left-brained learning we would do all day.  

Moving forward, I want to be sure to include some musical aspects into my classroom.  I remember one of my favorite time allotments in elementary was when we would gather around the piano in the room and sing some hymns with each other.  I would love to incorporate something similar.  That is pretty specific music time and won't always be an option.  I will also find ways to integrate and incorporate music in my lessons.  Just like any other strategy it won't be beneficial to all the students to integrate it every time, but finding a healthy mix between using it and other strategies will make use of Gardner's 8 Intelligences.
