Cesar Chavez was the leader of the Chicano Movement. He was an American labor leader and civil rights activist. He founded the National farm Workers Association. He was born on March 31st 1927 and died on April 23rd, 1993. He was married to Helen Fabela Chavez and they had five kids together.

The Latino Americans faced discrimination, educational segregation, voting rights, and ethnic stereotypes. The organization made it so that they could sing Spanish American songs while they were working.

They were trying to fight from segregation in schools to participate in strikes and boycotts to demanded a better living and working conditions. They wanted to be treated like they were human too.

As you saw previously, they faced a lot of discrimination, segregation, voting rights, etc. They protested often.

The movement was against structural and systemic racism. Structural racism is being racist to a certain group of people. Systematic racism is being prejudiced against someone group of people in public of private.

Achievements - What did they accomplish?

It won many reforms. It allowed many Mexican Americans to be hired for jobs and schooling opportunities. Many of their goals were met but they are still facing some challenges to this day.
