I have seen the This is Water video that we watched last week at least 5 times in the past thee years. Every time I see it, I know the information it has but I never truely think critically about it. i can see it again and again and have a few thoughts about it but then it leaves my mind after class is over. The video is readily available to me but I never incorporate it into my life. This article reminded me of that. So yes, I do agree with this article.

I agree with this chapter. It had so many relevant points that I have never really thought of before. I really thought what it was saying is the importance of teaching children to read and critically think first before introducing them to the internet. While I was reading this chapter for example,I googled who Proust was instead of going to a book or communicating with my peers about it. I have fallen into this habit of using the internet as my main resource. As the article said, automaticity is the heart of the reading process.

This article made me think about all the access to information that we have today, but how we so rarely know how to manipulate and apply that information to make it meaningful. As a college senior, I still have trouble sometimes sorting through all the information I come across on the internet, and especially thinking critically about it. I think it is extremely important to teach students that they have control over the information they come across, and to not let the information control them.

This article made me think alot about how much schools wants to be updated on technology for education, but never really provide the knowledge on how to use it. Not just how to press buttons, but how to teach children to use it and think about technology. How much it is a privilege to have and they can learn so much from technology if they know what exactly to look for. People believe that using tehnology is exciting and it is. But at the end of the day, if it is boring on paper, it is boring on the screen.

Children and adults are used to getting information quickly, so it causes difficulty when we must engage in a task for a significant period of time. We are so used to finding out what we need almost immediately, we have lost our ability to think critically about a task or a piece of text for an extended period of time.
