S5E1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to identify surface features on the Earth caused by constructive and/or destructive processes.

a. Construct an argument supported by scientific evidence to identify surface features (examples could include deltas, sand dunes, mountains, volcanoes) as being caused by constructive and/or destructive processes (examples could include deposition, weathering, erosion, and impact of organisms).
b. Develop simple interactive models to collect data that illustrate how changes in surface features are/were caused by constructive and/or destructive processes.
c. Ask questions to obtain information on how technology is used to limit and/or predict the impact of constructive and destructive processes. • A natural physical feature on the earth's surface.

Sediment

• small pieces of broken rock, gravel, sand, and dirt.

Weathering

• The process by which earth’s surface is broken down into smaller pieces.

Erosion

• After pieces of the Earth are broken down through weathering, those pieces are moved through erosion. It’s the process of moving things from one place to another.

Deposition     

• After pieces of the Earth are carried by erosion they are deposited somewhere else. Deposition means to deposit things somewhere else.

Glacier

• A huge sheet of ice slowing moving over Earth's surface.

Earthquake

• Is the sudden and violent shaking of Earth's crust.

Volcano

• Is an opening in Earth's surface that lets hot, melted rock and gases escapes from inside of Earth's surface.
