As for shared understanding of distributed leadership my school is in a quite good level. Teachers are given opportunities and space to work and help in the domains where they feel professionals and familiar.
As for participatory action more of the teachers feel like members in our community of practice. But more has to be done. I mean that more teachers have to be enabled and feel that they are part in this community. many teachers are not feeling committed because they do not have a stable position in the school. they use to say i do not know if i am going to be in this school next year... so why ia have to do things....
As for enabling institutonal structures we have scheduled meetings , we give opportunties and we are open to change. despite the difficulties we try to have time to change ideas and talk for pedagogical and institutional matters. In the school there are teachers responsible for issues. like programmes, escursions. etc
As for open social environment we are in a very good level, though work has to be done for some of us to trust and think positively for the whole team and for specific collegues.
As for evaluating and sharing the impact of DLE. we need a lot of work. we have no evaluation formal in greek educational system. so the process of evaluation depends on our own. in Greece the matters of evaluation cause great conversations and obstacles... so we only do unformal discussions and we try to enable all the members of our community.

The most difficult part in a Greek school for me is Key Lever 2. Every year the majority of the teachers usually change schools. Sometimes they come to our school in the middle of the school year. So it's difficult for them and we usually don't push them to express opinions or to volunteer in any participatory part of the school life. They are, of course, free to express opinions, but they are rarely heard.

In my school, I think the difficulty starts with the first keylever, as the distributed leadership is poorly understood. Every teacher and every student, and parent, must understand that they have a great responsibility in the act of education. The tasks of all the employees of an organization and of the beneficiaries of education must not be seen as a chore, but a step towards their own development and not only.

Unfortunately Self-Evaluation has ceised and only functioned for one year officially in my country,. As such, School Development is mainly a matter of centralized hierarchical process operated vertically by the ministry of education. Of course there are many motivated leaders that try to cast light on issues of building a participatory culture and setting the psychological basis on sharing their will to change and work for equity and learning in an open social environment where internal and external audiences would co-operate on a DLE basis. I think lever No 1: understanding of distributed leadership is of great importance as it takes under account the basic steps towards change that also include a psycological preparation to accept values and strategies of change.

I found really interesting the theory of the five levers which a good distributed leadership should be based on. The metaphore of the tree suits well the amount of general commitment needed to achieve the goal. As for my current situation at school I find that key lever 2 and key lever 4 should be better improved and understood in their cruciality. I think that a participatory culture is what is missing right now in my school, this pretty much happens because a open social environment should be created and encouraged to let all stakeholders be part of a school project aiming at innovation and better practices among all the actors involved.

In my opinion, lever 3 is there and actionable for DLE to emerge; however, the other levers are to be worked on a lot. Our predominant school culture is not yet of the type that favours the processes that lead to shared understanding of DLE. In many schools there is, I believe, a quite open social environment. I think most formal leaders who favour DLE have to make sustained efforts to bring groups of people together, to capitalise on the formally available structures to facilitate productive dialog for shared understanding and for a favourable school culture to emerge.

In our school, two levers seems important to consider. KL1: Shared leadership is somewhat part of our school, however is has never truly been discussed at teacher level. Making sure everyone is aware of DL and happy to to take part is essential.

KL5: our school requires a lot more self-reflection in order to improve and grow faster. Many good initiatives are tested / put in place, however reflection is not systematically implemented, which undermines the whole process.

First of all the first key lever should be developed in a more understandable and better noticed way, even the fundamentals are seen and then the most problematic is lever 2 – a participatory culture. Probably it is very difficult to involve everyone or at least a part to work together. It should be inherited from the rigid hierarchy – when most of the staff used to obey what was said and there was no need to express own opinion. So if anyone succeeded to put three ingredients: responsibility, reliability and respect in that culture. It should work.

Our school system is mostly administered by the state, so I think that a first step towards shared understanding of the DL is consider and discuss how all school stakeholders will react to DL and try to explore its meaning together. In the majority of Greek schools the idea of a real collaborative leadership is still unexplored especially among older teachers, however younger teachers are more eager to embrace different approaches if the school environment is open to innovation. Greek teachers are easily tired of theoretical pedagogic, this is why the formation of shared values that support DL and a commitment to inclusive and holistic learning would only come as a result after creating tangible results. This is why moving to step 3 (that is creating structures that enable DL) is easier to handle, especially since it is connected with the method of school projects that involves creating groups and teams and allocating resources to clarify terms. One more problem to be noticed is that in more conservative leadership environments innovative teachers complain sometimes that their effort is not adequately recognized both by the parents and their colleagues, thus they can be discouraged of contributing to the achievement of school goals.

PORTUGAL
The understanding of distributed leadership is very important. In schools that teachers are not used to think about this way of leadership, it is important to explain the concept. However it is mandatory that in fact the leader of the organizagion understood that as an essencial role of the school. In Portugal schools have a very hierarchic structure , most of them obliged by the central educational system. So we are used , not to think about the structure but, insted, fullfil what is recomended to do. In this point the changes to a distributede leadership, seam to be much more urgent though, because the social changes are so fast... that we risk to get imprisoned in the school if we not change. So,
the spread of information in order all understand what is our language and aims is very important to get into the participatory culture. If everybody feel that can contributes to improve his work and in the end his school is easier to continue to the other levers. Without this understanding, i believe to be very dificult to get into the other... because teachers and the other members of school comunity must be engaged with the culture and values they want to persue.

Teachers need tools to help them talk to one another, plan and coordinate projects and activities and work with like-minded individuals, or even interact socially.

The interest in collaboration has been escalating and that demands improved information. Collaboration (like collaborative workplaces that anyone can edit) can overcome any reluctance to participate by identifying who is contributing the information and help. Shifting the corporate culture towards collaboration fosters a more interactive, creative workforce that is engaged and motivated. A project of any size can be handled more efficiently and effectively. Leaderships need to take advantage of the new tools and techniques to get more done. Putting the participatory culture into practice and embracing the applications, practices, and mindset will mean school reaping the rewards.

Being too focused in academic, cognitive learning and in test driven teaching, social and democratic skills and holistic learning aren´t really a focus at the moment. So, naturally the 1st lever is essential has a starting point, if a shift is to me promoted.

Also, 4th lever would be fundamental to work with, since a rigid set of responsibilities is established for each group, which in turn disengages all the others from investing in so many aspects of the decision making process and demotes participation efforts. There is a need for a more open social environment in which participation from all sectors of the school can occur and be value, instead of being dismissed or rejected as threatening or imposed, and being restricted to a small group of formal leaders. This environment, where there is an incentive for participation in discussions and in decision making processes could definitely promote a participatory culture (2nd lever) from not only teachers, but also students, parents and all other participants of the school.

The key Lever 1 is the basis for the development of the following levels, with a participatory culture where the sharing of ideas and experiences can increase professional development and enhance the capacity and motivation of professionals. This way the structures become more capable of the necessary changes and transformations that a quality school demands permanently. The involvement of professionals and the opening of the school to the outside are key to this change that the school demands. As part of the whole process for effective leadership, a process of monitoring and evaluating processes and results based on benchmarks and with the participation of all is needed to have the results of that evaluation analyzed and integrated into the process of transformation and Improvement.

Module I and Module II has meant for me a favorable context for a deeper reflection on the type of leadership promoted in my institution and the necessary and possible steps to develop and support DLE. I believe that the five key levers act simultaneously, as they also represent levels at which changes occur interconnected.I believe that at this point in my institution more time and effort should be allocated to the implementation of strategies at the level of the institutional structures, to increase their permissiveness, with effects on the other levels, such as the participatory organizational culture. Thus, the attempt to develop institutional structures facilitating DLE, precisely through concrete interventions at school level (creating opportunities for participation in decision-making groups of as many teachers as possible, involving as many colleagues in the design of joint working procedures on different compartments, accessibility of formal and informal committees and working groups, support and allocation of resources so that as many teachers as possible can coordinate projects, engage in innovation and apply shared learning, expand the composition of working committees and forums for sharing innovation) all of this implicitly leads to decanting and sharing common values (such as: respect for all, engagement, assuming responsibility, encouraging criticism and evaluation and feedback as they support school improvement). Implicitly, by allocating time and working further on the development of institutional structures permissive to participatory leadership, it will lead to the consolidation of a participatory culture, as well as a profound understanding of the DLE. Structural changes take place together with and interdetermined with cultural change. The two levels are those that I believe that intervention at the level of my institution is particularly needed at present.
