My first full time job in education was as an IA at a K-12 alternative school. We had an online curriculum and got to run our school day much more akin to office hours. Making connections was super important and rewarding in that setting. Alternative Ed is likely something I will come back to after student teaching.

I finished my first 5k race this weekend! However, I've had one of those lingering colds and ended up walking. Still feeling accomplished though!

The last book I finished was The Maidens by Alex Michaelides. Rating it is a little tough; I feel like it finished really abruptly and with a twist that wasn't very built to. Until the last 25 pages or so I'd give it 4 stars. The ending probably makes it 3 stars. I think I'd still recommend it if you like academia settings and mystery.

Pedagogy of Freedom is the next book I want to add to my 'teacher shelf.' We read portions last term, and it really spoke to me. I always enjoy studying Freire and critical consciousness, so delving deeper into his library was super fun.

If you think it would be fun to check out a basketball game but aren't a super fan, I would totally recommend seats at the back of the house. Dependent on who the Blazers are playing, you can get tickets for around $10, still enjoy the atmosphere, and have a relatively good view (the jumbotron isn't there for nothing!)

My long term goal would probably be to teach Government at an alternative school. I think it is a really important class and can be a great opportunity to share some real life skills and great knowledge with students just before they head off to build their life.
