Hi! I'm Jess (she/her) and I work at the Center for Education Innovation and Learning in the Sciences (CEILS) helping faculty improve teaching and better engage students. I have two little kiddos, Henry (5) and Charlotte (2). Outside of work I love going to the beach, eating tacos and Korean bbq and anything else delicious really, and watching dramas and listening to podcasts. Hi, mamas! I'm Marian (she/her) am I am honored to be on the Working Mamas Committee as a co-chair. I am the Director of Advisor Training & Professional Development and University Studies with the Center for Academic Advising in the College (CAAC). I have 2 kids! Yasmeen is 6 going on 13 (lol) and Jacob recently turned 1 and has started walking. I love being a mama and I find great joy in my career. I'm still figuring out how to find cohesion in my role as a working mama. Thank you for being in this community. I value each of you and your experiences. I'm excited to learn and grow from you all. Hey 👋 I am Amanda Savercool, Director of Social Media for the @ucla social media channels, working in Strategic Communications. I have two boys, Lucas (6) and Graham (almost 3). I recently completed my Apprentice Certification with the California Master Beekeeping program, and here I am with the Bruin Beekeepers! After a rough return to work during COVID after my second kid, I decided to really focus on the positives about work, and what UCLA has to offer me/us :) I live in Santa Monica, and I am from Orange County. Hi everyone! I'm Lucy (she/her) and currently a Regional Director with UCLA Development (External Affairs). I was born and raised in Southern CA, San Gabriel Valley area. I graduated from UCLA in 2012 (undergrad), the University of San Francisco in 2014 (MA, Sport Management), worked for a charter school network in South Bay LA, then came back to UCLA in 2015. I am also a certified life coach and have a small coaching business (www.resilientsee.com) working with folks experiencing life transitions. I enjoy watching and playing sports, singing for fun, arts & crafts, bonding over foods, and more (can't think right now lol). I have a baby girl born in June 2022 and a 5-year-old husky. Hello! I'm Jen Hirashiki. I am an academic coordinator for shared governance and UG educational initiatives in Undergraduate Education Initiatives in the DUE. I have one 3 year old boy (HanWool) and 2 cats (Mochi and Chloe). I love having lots of adventures with the family on the weekends! I definitely find it challenging to balance work and life, but I am working on giving myself grace and kindness. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exercising, watching Kdramas, and sewing. In 2019 Gina joined UCLA’s Events & Transportation department as the Manager of Training & Organizational Development. In this role she is responsible for training, talent development, overseeing performance management and coaching, as well as organizational development activities, including process improvements. She is passionate about helping people and organizations grow. Gina also currently serves on the Board of UCLA’s Staff Assembly.

Before becoming a Bruin, Gina had spent her career in the private sector doing training, talent development, performance management, organizational development, and coaching for organizations of varying sizes.

Gina holds a Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from California State University, Los Angeles.

Outside of campus, Gina lives in the San Fernando Valley with her family and their kitten, Lily. She loves to garden and cook at home.

Hi Mamas, my name is Ishia (eye-sha), Program Director for the Students with Dependents Program (housed in the Bruin Resource Center)- serving the community of my dreams! I was a parenting student throughout my educational journey - deciding to go to college while pregnant with my 1st born. I have a son (11 years old) and daughter (7 years old). I received my B.S. in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona and my M.S. in College Counseling & Student Development form Azusa Pacific University. My passion is support parenting students - and now even beyond (because of the amazing program I work for) - caregivers and guardians, while still taking over the world as a working Mama :D Looking forward to connecting with you all. xo

Hi my name is Beth Bowman and I work as the Assistant Facility Manager and Events Coordinator in the Student Activities Center under UCLA Recreation. I also have the honor of leading the Blue and Gold Ambassador Tour Group that gives tours of campus to VIP visitors, Student Affairs groups and NCAA recruits. I have an almost 3 year old named Max and I love to read, play basketball, write and now apparently play hide and seek obsessively. I am a UCLA alum, although I did go teach Special Education K-5 Reading and Math for Teach for America (Atlanta) and 1 year at a Canoga Park Charter School before finding my way back to UCLA and the field of Student Affairs and Recreation. I am so grateful for this group and excited to get to know all of you more.
