The purpose of this text is to show the homeless in Los Angeles. This uses both tone and pathos to portray the message that it is trying to get across. The tone of all these pictures is not too serious, but rather lighthearted to show that there is still hope. The photo essay also uses pathos/emotional appeal in hoping that there is hope for these people, and that they can have a chance at a normal life.
