Law is made to deter people from committing crimes, actions considered to be harmful to the majority of the society. Those that break the law are punished. The law is present to guide people on the right ways to live in society. However, reality is not so simple where a person can be easily judged as 'evil' or 'bad'. What if circumstances made it inevitable for one to break the law in order to survive or protect their loved ones. Laws are made by humans and who is to say that humans are perfect? Anything created by humans carries the same flaws humans possess and is never absolutely right. In my opinion, the law is needed but there are situations where the law cannot accurately judge the actual 'harmfulness' of one's action.

In reality, many situations often overlap with one another and unforeseen accidents often occur as well. Given a situation where you are being robbed and the robber is threatening you with a lethal weapon, some may just give the robber what he wants. Others may fight back in self-defense and by accident, kill the robber with his own weapon. Now, would you say that the victim is guilty of murder? Had the victim not fight back, he would risk the chance of death. Such questions will be raised and the law cannot fully address the actual weight of the victim killing the robber. In this case, the law cannot always be right.

-Yan Cheng

2) In the society, holistic education is commonly well-known in the education system regardless in level. Holistic education is referred to as regular class lessons, co-curricular activities and camps which educate the students not just academics but also moral values. However, proponents may agree that holistic education is desirable and practical in the society, detractors oppose that even though holistic education is desirable, however, in some careers, one doesnt value moral educationIn my opinion, holistic education is desirable and practical in the society to a large extent.

For example, punctuality and urgency are the few values most co-curricular activity will impart into the student. As the employers nowadays wants an employee that has both moral values and the academics as compared to just academics. Therefore, this shows that holistic education is desirable and practical in the society. -Asrul

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." Education allows us to build a solid foundation in life and provides us with the knowledge to progress in today's results-oriented society. In order to attain a holistic education in our society, there is a need to have a fair bit of character development, career guidance and academic curriculum. While proponents may agree that aiming for a holistic education is realistic and necessary in today's society, detractors will oppose that it is not practical in today's fast-paced world. In my opinion, as our society progresses towards a more globalized world, though having a holistic education is useful, it might not be a totally feasible task.

General statement: No man is ever equal.

Interpretation: There will always be differences between the genders , races and religion. There have been measures taken to the ensure equality over the years and situations have improved but differences between each and everyone can never be gone.

S: Some may think that equality will happen in society one day and everyone will be able to have the same share however others may think that there will never be equality no matter what measures is taken.

T: In my opinion, the battle for equality will be very hard to achieve as everyone has a unique personality and character and no one will ever be the same.

P: I do agree that the battle for equality can never be won as different circumstances are set for different genders in the world.

E: Equality is where everyone has the same share of things irregardless of race, gender or religion. However in reality it is very difficult to achieve as no man is ever equal.

E: In Singapore, males who go through NS would have higher salary as compared to woman who don't when they first start work. This sight would also show how they get promoted at a quicker rate than women in terms of their career paths.

L: Although it is now the 21st century, there is still no equality in any society. Thus, equality is difficult to happen when everyone is different in their own way.

GIST: As quoted from Mark Twain, "The lack of money is the root of all evil.”. It is crystal clear that money is indispensable in our lives. In developing countries, there is a very high rate of crimes, especially when it comes to theft and burglary. But is the reason for these offences really greed? In these countries, people steal because they NEED to steal. If they don’t, they will not have the basic necessities to survive. However, the beauty of our environment is not infinite. If we lose it, we will never be able to gain it back. Are economic concerns more important than environmental ones? Some will argue that having financial power is more important while others will argue that the protection of our nature is more important. In my opinion, although there should be a balance between the concerns with regards to both economic and environmental ones, it is highly important that developing countries should place monetary priorities before saving the environment.

- Zheng Jie- sama

From young,
we are taught to treat everyone equally. However, racism, sexism and religious
intolerance have always been ongoing in our society. Equality is the state of being
equal in status, rights or opportunities. While detractors may feel that the battle
for equality can never be won, there is still a large majority that feels that
equality can be achieved to a high level. In my opinion, I strongly agree that
we can achieve equality to a large extend.
