Beaks change depending on food supply and season (if small seeds are plentiful, then small beaked finches survive and reproduce). If it's a rainy season, the seeds are small, but if it's a dry season, the seeds are big. One type of finch could prove Darwin's theory of evolution. If there are two chicks, the older one will push the younger one out from under the mother and kill.  It is better to kill one of the babies because if the mother keeps both, only 75% of the mothers live because they have to take care of both babies instead of one.
