Mass surveillance does exist like 1984 in today's society as shown in the clip because of various face recognition. For example, big companies have the ability to advertise their company based on cameras that could recognize your face, that can be seen in public at the mall. It can also be seen at restaurants, where they were able to recognize where she was and that she liked diet coke based on what she liked on facebook. Also on facebook, tagging people can also lead to facial recognition even if they don't have any social media.

Will we have a society like 1984 in the future?
How can someone remain private?
Will there be anything to stop this?

Yes mass surveillance does exist in modern society. Telemarketers are using mannequins to surveillance people while they shop at the mall. They use face recognition to determine your gender, age, and preference. The FBI can also use face recognition in order to identify someones face such as criminals or someone who they believe did something. This is used to identify people and catch them before they cause more harm.
Would it affect people lives?
Can people use face recognition over seas?
Can people use facial recognition to steal your identity?

Yes! In the video clip we watched, there is facial recognition everywhere. Not only that, but the government can keep track of what we do with our phones. The camera in our phones can see whatever we look at even when its off. Also, it can track us. Going back to the video, some malls have facial recognition software to help the consumers buy their products!

1. Does snapchat keep your face?
2. Can the government use social media apps to recognize you?
3. How can this be stopped!

Yes, mass survaillance does exist. Drones are used when taking pictures and storing faces into a data base. Not only of cameras. Corporations using facial regconition to place ads. Big business is worse than big brother. Faces are as important as private infromation and records.

Yes mass surveillance like 1984 exist today in society as shown in the following clip. Nowadays, in society there are a wide range of face recognition devices that scan us in order to find out what we like by linking it to social media. This is not only used for business but also for advertisement. Individuals walking in the mall are being scanned without consent. However this does not only happen in the mall but in public restaurants. They also keep track of photos and private information on social media.

1) How can you protect yourself?
2) How is it going to be in the future?
3) Are there any social medias that are considered safe?

Mass surveillance such as that in, "1984", by George Orwell exists in today's society. However, it is mostly seen amongst corporations and big businesses. Through facial recognition, companies can now identify you through your social media accounts, Facebook being a huge contender. As seen in the clip, even the government's facial database is not as extensive as that of social media. This is why ads are so personalized towards a viewers interests. Everything we post, share, or like is not private and is saved in the databases of companies. Facial recognition technology allowed the drone shown in the video clip to identify faces from a distance away. There is no true way to stop the surveillance, since some form of social media will always exist. One may try to abandon social media, but our faces, purchases, and information is still out there.
