The Lowest member number across the NRL

As a result of losing games and having the external opinion that the Gold Coast will "never support a viable, successful national sport team", the Gold Coast Titans recorded the lowest member numbers across the NRL.

In reference to their strategic priorities, this affects their financial strength pillar as well as their Titans legion pillar. While they aim to have the strength of community in order to sell out stadiums for home games, their member numbers are 13,124 as of 2023 while other teams are 16,000 and above.

Their financial strength pillar is affected as they aren't having the desired commercial success to gain profits.

The Gold Coast Titans focus heavily on community engagement, in line with their strategic priorities, specifically, the Titans Legion Pillar. With this priority in mind, the Titans created their Leagueability program. This is a program that was developed to allow people of all abilities to participate whether that's playing, volunteering or coaching. They have seen a large increase in player numbers since beginning this program in 2019, with 76 players in the 2024 season.

The engagement from the community and partnerships created by the team has allowed this program to grow and allow people of all abilities to experience the world of NRL through the Gold Coast Titans.

While the Titans don't have the lowest average for attendance for home games in the NRL, in comparison to the maximum capacity of CBUS Stadium, their attendance for each home game is low. CBUS Super Stadium holds 27,690 people, while the average attendance for a Titans home game in 2024 was only 16,241. The 'Titans Legion' pillar of their strategic plan and priorities outlines their goal to have a "name on every seat in the house", as a result of community strength. Their low attendance numbers put strain on this pillar as their home games aren't filling the stadium.

Although their first game of the season was a loss, Titans CEO Steve Mitchell, claims they are looking at a 20-25% increase in member numbers from the previous season. they're pushing for 20,000 members for the 2025 season, and with the already decent increase, they expect this to be a reachable goal.

Mitchell mentioned that they are on route for record member numbers for the club this season and it all comes down to community support, aligning with their Titans Legion Pillar of their strategic plan.

This however, affected their game immensely, starting the season with a devastating loss.

Linking with their strategic priorities of on field success and training facilities, the cyclone made for a difficult start to the season for the Titans, their loyal fans and their members.

As a result, their marketing and communication with sponsors and partners needs to elevate in order to build excitement amongst fans and members for the upcoming season.

As an NRL enthusiast, Liam Callaghan has expressed his preview of the Titans 2025 season. From a fans perspective, it isn't positive. The Titans have a lack of strategic management in regards to player recruitment and school/club partnerships. Liam mentions they've lost schools to other teams, this heavily affecting their community engagement and strength of partnerships.

While the recruitment strategies come down to the team managers and coach, engaging and creating strong relationships with stakeholders would allow the Titans to improve this issue. However, with the loss of clubs and schools, they will struggle to meet their 'Titans Legion' pillar of their strategic priorities for their 2030 roadmap.

Keebra Park High School made the decision to end their partnership with the Gold Coast Titans and instead partner with the Rabbitohs. The Titans have partnered with multiple schools across the South-East Queensland and Northern NSW in order to give school kids the opportunity to have a future in playing football. However, their partnership with multiple schools has led to them losing one of them. The Titans have mentioned they are disappointed at this loss as they have a strong connection with this school, with many of their players being alumni. Keebra Park was hopeful for an exclusive partnership with the Titans, however, they declined and as a result, lost this partnership to the Rabbitohs. This affecting their partnership numbers and connections to recruit players in the future.
