You can endlessly pick on the documentaries and other inconsistencies, but the idea here is different.
The film is about the fact that friendship can be beyond nationality, invented enmity and conventions, beyond politics and war. And it was not the gas chamber in a Jewish camp that killed the kind-eyed boy with oceans, but the cruel mores and indifference of his own family and those around him.
