Often the design FRQs will have you pick the best design (note: the ones today don’t).  Rubrics generally will expect you not only to say A is the best because it has better XYZ, but also state that B doesn’t. For example: “Experimental design A is best because it reduces unknown variability and controls for the soil acidity, while experimental design B does not control for the soil acidity.”

Also, remember, in general when comparing two or more things, use this same practice: “A is 10 liters and B is 8.5 liters” is not a comparison.  Write “A has a mean of 10 liters, which is greater than B’s mean of 8.5 liters.”  Or, “Both A (69 miles) and B (68 miles) have similar means.”

One last reminder:  “context.”
