Barret is one of the primitive feminism pioneers, especially in social issues. Any way, puritan way of thinking remained in regards to family structures and the women rol in it. This poem is included in Barret's novel Aurora Leigh, honouring Aurore Lucile Dupin, A.K.A. George Sand, and her difficulties when becoming a writer, and how she overcame them.

* At 20 she published her first collection of poems.
* Elizabeth got married to Robert Browning in opposition to her father.
* She collected a sequence of 44 sonnets in which she showed her deep love for her husband. One of these beautiful poems is How do I Love Thee?
