This cover grasps a lot of the books whole concept. It shows a young innocent girl who is new and scared to the world around her. Then it shows her at a playground where her and Justin had their first date and first kiss. Also, where it all started based off of the rumors and the harassment.

In the book Thirteen Reasons why by Jay Asher it’s a about a boy named Clay Jenson who receives a set of cassette tapes and doesn't know why. When listening to them he realize that they were from his classmate Hannah Baker who recently passed. He than notices that Hannah recorded a set of cassettes 13 to be exact and on those tapes are either explanations on why she dies or how the people affected her life. There’s a catch to the tapes, you must listen to them and after you listen you must pass them onto the next person on the tape. To make sure you listen and pass them on she has someone to follow and observe and their job is to make the extra copy of the tapes public for the whole town to know if the tapes are not passed on. Which surprises him because he never really talked to Hannah except for a few times. As he listened to the tapes and listen about all the other people who are on the tapes he figures out the many secrets that were going on through his school. He separates the truth from the rumors. As you listen to the tapes there is a map and with each tape their is a destination you must go to in the town to visualize her experiences with each person in the tape.

I liked how real the book was and how relatable it is for some people. I feel as though it’s also a life lesson wrapped up into one book. Which would be to watch what you say and how you treat others because you never know how the consequences of your actions big or small may play out in a person’s life. After reading this book it makes me want to treat others the way I want to be treated and make everyone around me feel welcome and loved. Throughout the book I feel as though the part that’s very interesting was how it seemed to all began with the Who’s hot and Who’s not list. How something that was so simple as who had a better butt between Jessica and Hannah spiralled out into something so big. Because without that list made by Alex she wouldn’t have gotten sexually harassed in the store. Than if Justin Hadn’t spread rumors about her then it wouldn’t have had people thinking that she was easy. It all really started with a rumor which caused chaos

“Olly-olly-oxen-free.” Pg. 32 - I feel as though it was important to the book because it's the phrase her and her once "friends" used to express their day. It showed that everyone needs an outlet and that we shouldn't hold it in.

“ What an interesting word to sum up Courtney’s tale. Because when you’re posed, you know someone’s watching. You put on your very best smile. You let your sweetest personality shine. ‘ Pg.49 - Showing that everyone's not who they seem to be. They are only what you perceive them to be when looking in a picture. Just because someone's smiling doesn't mean they are okay. Just because they are laughing doesn't mean that they probably aren't dying inside.

“ No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people” pg. 82- Showing that nobody knows how others are feeling. Not knowing that every cause has an effect no matter how big or small. The smallest slang or the biggest donation has and effect to any person no matter how "well" you think you know the person.

I would recommend this book to others but they must be at least 13 and up due to some scenes being to graphic. Also, I feel as though this book is very life reflecting because after reading this book it makes you want to reflect on how you effected every person you have came in contact with. Then have you wonder on how you could improve your life in the near future. Depending on you experiences in life you may relate to the book and you can compare on how you reacted in the similar situations as the character. This book is a great book to have a discussion based off of because everyone has their own opinion on why this person should be in the tapes or why they shouldn't, and/or talk about everyone's actions throughout the book.

Relatable Song

This song represents my book because it has to do with betrayal and basically everyone in the cassettes had felt betrayed by someone in the book. Clay felt betrayed by Tony since he didn't tell him he was the keeper of the tapes, Hannah by everyone because they all affect her in a way, and Jessica by Hannah because Hannah watched as Jessica got raped and didn't help.
