Welcome to my multi genre project over Disc golf. A sport that has long lived away from the spotlight but is now becoming noticed around the world. Within this project you will see: A poem expressing the sports effects on me, A podcast talking about the professionals, A slide show naming off the top 10 disc golfers, and a tik tok of my friends and I enjoying a day at the course. But before we get into all the fun stuff, we must begin with where it all began for both professionals and myself.

Growing up, I lived just a mile away from a disc golf course. It was an activity we did during Elementary school for P.E. but I soon grew out of it as I got older and less people were playing this sport. During quarantine in early 2020, that all changed. A couple friends of mine asked me to go play a round, without hesitation I ran to find my discs were playing shortly after. This kickstarted a newfound love for disc golf as I had a new appreciation for the sport that I instantly fell back in love with. I Continued to play all through the summer, finding new courses to play at and getting better as the days went on. Arguably becoming the best out of any of my friends. 

Disc golf has been around since the early 1900s, orgininating in Canada. Since than it has grown all around the world. Heavily in the United States. Over the last 30 years alone the sport has grown tremendously professionally. Players are getting signed big contracts for disc brands. It is getting streamed and shown to the public weekly as the viewers continue to grow. A sport that had no spotlight in, is taking the surge as one of the most watched sports. The community around the sport continues to grow during times where we need unity.

Before you read and watch through my multi genre project, please put into consideration how much time and effort I have put into it, along with how much of an impact this sport has on my everyday life. It has brought me new friends that I never thought I would be close with. I learned that through words and videos, it’s not always explainable to how much joy something brings to you. You can’t feel the emotions and laughter that is shown. You can’t taste the food after a hot round with your friends. And lastly, you can’t see the bonds that I have made with these people in just a year.

I know everyone has their own opinion, but please enjoy this work of art and consider playing a round sometime maybe.

I’m from the two minute drive from my house to the disc golf course,

the one that’s been there all my life.

From the early mornings with the grass soaking my feet, 

to the hot summer days where it’s almost too hot to be on the course.

From the loud sounds of the chains for birdie, 

to the straight air balls on 15 foot putts for bogey.

From the great 18 under rounds where you can’t miss,

to the rounds where bags get thrown and choice words are screamed.

From the trips to DQ after a hot round,

to a trip to BWW to watch some sports.

I am from the dollar a stroke with Brady,

Making even a little less than I would like.

I’m from the long drives down to Sabattis,

driving while no one else is awake.

From running over the rumble strips to awake them,

to lay on my horn at awful drivers.

I am from the stops at Freshies before an early morning round,

to getting into an argument with an old lady for no reason. ( BTW it wasn’t me who got in the argument with her)

From the hole in ones that everyone goes crazy over,

to hitting first available and only being 25 feet off the teepad.

From watching rounds of Professional disc golf on Jomez,

thinking I can do some crazy shots only the pros can do.

I am from the sport that I learned to both love and hate,

but it’s one that has brought me so many memories, both good and bad.

I am from the long days that I will forever cherish with my friends, 

making memories I will never forget.

From the good and bad rounds,

it is a sport that I will never forget and will play until my body tells me it’s time to stop.
