The novel has a lot of pain and violence caused by the gang. The entire book centers a lot of strong hostility that there is with Soc, the rich kids from the west side of town, and the greasers, make (a person or area) poor. teenagers from the east side. Soc thinks thinks they are higher in rank.

The type of conflict in this part of the novel is man vs. nature, because the nature caused the big fire and caused the roof to fall down on Johnny which in turn, mortally hurt Johnny sending him to the hospital and eventually killing him.

I think it was a great book but, The western English dialect was a bit difficult to understand and, at the end when Johnny and Dally died it was pretty depressing but I would definitely recommend this book.
