Review all of your notes and paper prep assignments from over the course of the semester. What sticks out to you as the most important thing from all the descriptions and insights you’ve made through looking and writing?
Introductory paragraph: Introduce your artwork to your reader. Who made it? When? What is its title? Is it a painting, sculpture, drawing…
End your introduction with a Thesis statement: By focusing on __, __, __, (content, form, color, medium, technique, mood, tone, audience address, scale, dimension, etc), in this paper, I will show that __ (artwork) by __ (artist) does/is about ___.

Organize: Write an outline organizing your paper into its component parts.
  • Revisit your chosen object
  • Revisit your outline. 
  • Organize your outline in a way that you can make a case that your interpretation is a strong case for how to look at this artwork. 
  • Start each paragraph with a topic sentence that identifies the main idea of the paragraph. The rest of the paragraph will support the topic sentence with details.
