  • Set directions - these tell you WHERE the play happens.
  • Character names - these tell you WHO is in the play. The name is always followed by a colon (:).
  • Stage directions - these might tell you HOW the characters feel, HOW they speak, or WHAT they do.
  • The lines - these are the words each character SPEAKS.
