"Macklemore's Same Love inspired by Mary Lambert's 'darkest times' The singer on Macklemore's massive 2012 hit Same Love says the track was inspired by "dark times" in her teens. The song became the official anthem for the campaign forsame-sex marriage in Washington state in the US.Jul 15, 2015" 

Mary had a very difficult childhood she even thought about committing suicide at a very young age. She states in this article, how she had a very rough childhood. She was also a raped victim, who was also gay. So when Macklemore came to her to do this song she was excited to collaborate with him due to how much she felt it related to her.

This photo is a great photo, it shows people from all races and cultures of the gay community supporting on another. 

In the video "Same Love" Macklemore didn't seem to show any discrimination. The video started a mixed race couple going through everyday problems until the day they die.

We are coming closer and closer as people to just accept one another. I'm a true believe her ones happiness. So i'd like to leave you with this quote, because getting the opportunity to sing this song was a blessing for this young lady.
