Adams employs a variety of different ways to poke fun at a few topics. His writing incorporates a lot of humor to lighten the tension or to just entertain the reader. He often goes off on a lot of tangents that usually end in a joke or just something funny. Getting back to the first point, Adams likes to poke fun at philosophy. Due to the vast amount of space in the universe, this allows for an abundance of races to live across the stars. Some of the most notable include Humans, Vogons, etc.

Humans
An Above-average human


Humans are bipedal beings descended from apes. They are generally known around the universe as not being that particularly bright, as humans are the third most intelligent lifeforms in the galaxy. However, they are actually quite good at adapting to any situation that comes right at them. It was until the after the destruction of Earth that it was found out that humans were components of a massive supercomputer.

Vogons

A bulky, putrid, slug-like, green aliens that are not necessarily evil, but are cruel and bureaucratic. Hailing from the plant Vogsphere, Vogons are the galactic government's bureaucrats and have "as much sex appeal as a road accident" and the third worst poetry in the universe.
